Operations updates

ASR has held an in-person all staff meeting and picnic in July over the past few years. A number of factors have made that difficult to organize this year, so it will be postponed. There is not yet a plan, but we wanted to make sure everyone had advance notice as teams often schedule around this time. Details with the new plan will be shared after the start of the term.

Additionally, the monthly ASR all staff meetings will be taking a break over the summer. During the break, we will use the ASR Staff Google group to share any updates. When the meetings start back up again in September it will be with a new quarterly schedule. This will be automatically updated on calendars.

Update from Stacey

It’s that in between time of year where one day I run outdoors, and the next day we have 7+ inches of snow. Uncertainty seems to be a theme right now, whether it is the weather or how the department of education might change under its new leadership. At the March 27 all staff assembly, I and the DEI committee plan to talk about how the University is responding to some of these changes, such as the Dear Colleague Letter that was released a few weeks ago. I hope you are able to join us for the assembly.

Meanwhile, I have been in performance appraisal mode reading about your many accomplishments this year. I really appreciate your efforts. Thank you!

Update from Stacey

Thank you for all of the effort that went into performance appraisals. It is always a big lift to complete all of the self-appraisals, responses, and appraisal meetings. I heard from many supervisors and directors how good it is to be reminded of everything we accomplish in a year. I am especially grateful for folks taking the time to really think about our Diversity Equity & Inclusion Vision Statements; I saw goals spanning each of the statements and am looking forward to the year ahead.

On March 28, I will be giving an ASR update at the virtual All Staff Assembly. If there is something you would like me to cover in that update or in a News & Notes column, send me an email. I’d love to hear from you!
