CPR/AED Familiarization training opportunities

University Health and Safety offers a monthly free one-hour class that teaches you what to do in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. You will learn hands-only CPR and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This class is not for professional certification, but provides the fundamental knowledge to help save a life in an emergency. If you’re interested in the class, you can register in Training Hub (course UHS906).

New FERPA training requirement

If you have access to PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and/or APLUS, you will need to complete the new FERPA training course by October 31, 2024, regardless of any previous FERPA training recorded. If you do not complete the new training on time, you will lose your PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and/or APLUS access.

The new course should take 20-30 minutes to complete. If you are required to take the training, you will be automatically enrolled through Training Hub. You will receive additional information and reminders by email.

Moving forward, FERPA training will need to be completed on a regular basis to maintain access to PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and APLUS. This is to ensure that those with access to private student data remain informed of their responsibilities and to prevent FERPA violations. If you have questions, you can contact cctraining@umn.edu.

OUE virtual training webinar

OUE is offering a virtual training webinar with Karen Diver, Senior Advisor to the President for Native American Affairs on April 25, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. The training, A History of Federal Indian Policy and its Current Day Impacts: to understand the issues facing contemporary Tribal governments and Indigenous Peoples, will provide a unique opportunity to learn more about Native American Tribal issues and help us better understand and support the University’s Native American student population. You are encouraged to register for the training, which will include a 90-minute presentation and a 30-minute Q&A.

GLBA training

All ASR staff should have received a notice confirming their enrollment in Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) training in the training hub. This is mandatory training that must be completed annually by Friday, February 5, 2021, which should take approximately ten minutes to complete.

ASR handles nonpublic personal information (NPI) covered under the GLBA, and staff may access sensitive information that must be protected, which is even more important as we work from home. Your access to this sensitive, personal information means that the University expects you to always protect this information under the University’s Information Security Program and federal regulations, such as the GLBA Safeguards Rule (16 CFR Part 314).
