In the upcoming months, ASR will be implementing required training to meet federal compliance regulations. One compliance requirement is for the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), which is a federal law that requires financial institutions to protect customers’ sensitive financial data. The University is considered a financial institution in this sense because we administer financial aid.
As we continue to work on meeting the requirements, please remember that student data must be secured when you are not working with it. If you need a file cabinet or drawers with a lock, please let Lindsay (lindsay@umn.edu) or Mara (john5941@umn.edu) know.
