Zoom to enforce security requirement

Starting September 27, 2020, Zoom will enforce the "Passcode or Waiting Room" security requirement for all meetings. These security measures will ensure that your online meetings are protected while still maintaining its simplicity for all participants.

Prepare for this Change
  1. Identify meetings that need updating. To find meetings that you have scheduled without a Passcode or Waiting Rooms generate a report.
  2. Update your meetings. Before September 27, you can update your already scheduled meetings by adding a Passcode or enabling a Waiting Room.
    1. Learn how to add a passcode to an existing meeting.
    2. Learn how to enable a waiting room.
After September 27, Zoom will automatically enable waiting rooms for any scheduled meetings that have not been updated.

Waiting Rooms

The Waiting Room feature allows the host to control when a participant joins the meeting. When an attendee has entered the waiting room, the host will receive both a visual and auditory notification. As the meeting host, you can then admit attendees one by one, or hold all attendees in the Waiting Room and admit them all at once.

You can also customize the Waiting Room experience so individuals or users on an approved list of domains can bypass the Waiting Room and directly join the meeting.

If you have any questions regarding this change, please review the FAQ document from Zoom or reach out to Technology Help.
